People frequently ask how they can be of help to the Greater Louisville Council of the Blind. One way is to volunteer your time, talents and skills. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Volunteer as a guide
GLCB plans visits to community attractions and tours. Come along as a guide for a fun-filled afternoon or evening.
Help at GLCB seasonal events
Help set up and serve meals, run games and activities etc.
Assist with website maintenance
Use those HTML, CSS and other site-building skills to help transform GLCB website into something special.
Create relevant website content
GLCB can always use timely content. Use those writing and editing skills to help us keep our content up-to-date.
Share your knowledge
Speak to a chapter meeting on a topic you know well. You might offer to talk about your career, a hobby, or a special trip or experience. Share your musical talent, or teach a craft or a skill.
Provide transportation to meetings
It is often said that lack of transportation is the one thing that keeps blind people from getting involved in activities outside their homes. GLCB can use your help to provide rides for blind and visually impaired people who want to come to programs and activities, but who have no way to get there.
